Hello, everyone,

As an English teacher with more than 26 years of experience, I feel very positive about using Artificial Intelligence in instruction and learning. I have been immersed in technology for a long time, and throughout my professional career I have always tried to adapt to the new changes that society demands. Nowadays, students live in a digital world, so education also needs to evolve in order to connect with their interests, needs, and learning styles.

For me, AI is not a replacement for teachers; instead, it is a powerful support tool that can improve the teaching and learning process. I use AI in a very academic and responsible way. I carefully design prompts according to my students’ objectives, language levels, interests, and learning difficulties. This helps me create more interactive, personalized, and meaningful classes. Through AI, I can prepare engaging activities, authentic materials, conversation topics, vocabulary exercises, writing tasks, and even differentiated instruction for mixed-ability learners. As a result, students become more motivated, autonomous, and actively involved in their own learning process.

Regarding course development, I believe AI is also extremely useful. It allows teachers to save time when planning lessons, organizing content, designing assessments, and creating innovative learning experiences. AI can provide ideas and resources that enrich the curriculum and make lessons more dynamic and connected to real-life situations. However, I strongly believe that teachers’ experience, pedagogical knowledge, and human interaction remain essential. Technology should complement education, not control it. Teachers still need to analyze, adapt, and evaluate the materials generated by AI to ensure they are accurate, ethical, and appropriate for students.

In my experience, my colleagues have different opinions about AI in education. Some teachers are very enthusiastic and curious because they see AI as an opportunity to modernize education and facilitate their work. Others feel uncertain or worried because they may not have enough digital training or they fear becoming too dependent on technology. I think this situation is normal because every educational transformation brings both excitement and challenges. For this reason, it is important to provide teachers with continuous professional development and training in digital competence, so they can use AI effectively and confidently in their teaching practice.

After reading the abstract about the integration of digital technologies in English Language Teaching, I completely agree with the idea that technology has transformed ELT in many positive ways. Throughout my years as a teacher, I have witnessed the evolution from traditional classrooms to highly digital learning environments. I have seen how technological tools can improve students’ vocabulary, listening, writing, communication skills, motivation, and participation. In particular, AI-driven platforms and interactive applications can create more personalized and collaborative learning experiences that respond to the realities of 21st-century learners.

At the same time, I also identify with the challenges mentioned in the study. Not all students or teachers have equal access to digital resources, and many educators still need more training to integrate technology pedagogically and effectively. In some cases, technology is used only for entertainment purposes instead of meaningful learning. Therefore, teachers must learn not only how to use digital tools, but also how to apply them critically, creatively, and responsibly in educational contexts.

As a teacher who never gives up on staying updated with the changes happening on planet Earth, I believe continuous learning is essential. Education cannot remain disconnected from technological progress. Instead, teachers should embrace innovation while maintaining the human values that characterize meaningful education: empathy, critical thinking, communication, ethics, and emotional support. AI and digital technologies have enormous transformative potential in ELT, but their success depends on how wisely and pedagogically teachers use them to support students’ learning journeys.

Hi Jurix,

Thank you for sharing such a thoughtful and well-developed reflection. Your extensive experience in English language teaching clearly shines through in the way you approach AI as a supportive tool rather than a replacement for teachers. I especially appreciate your emphasis on designing prompts carefully to meet students’ needs, interests, and language levels. That pedagogical perspective is exactly what makes AI meaningful in education.

You also raised an important point about continuous professional development and the need to help teachers feel confident using digital technologies in responsible and effective ways. Your balanced view of innovation together with empathy, ethics, and human interaction reflects the kind of teaching that truly supports learners in the 21st century.

I also wanted to mention that when you referred to the article by Alzeebaree, the text of the article title was added instead of the actual article link. Luckily, ChatGPT was able to help me locate the article and URL for reference so I could fix your link. Thank you again for your valuable contribution and for sharing your insights and experience with the community.
