I have experience with Cambridge Moodle when I set them for the CELTA courses I work on. I am hoping I can learn how to create activities so I can add them to this Moodle. I am not sure if that would work or not but I am hoping this can give more value to Moodle because most of the time my trainees find it of no value.

Thank you for sharing your experience so honestly. It really helps to understand where you are coming from, especially with your work on CELTA courses.

It sounds like you already have a solid foundation with Moodle from a course management perspective, and now you are ready to move into something much more impactful, which is activity design. That shift is exactly what can change how trainees experience Moodle.

You are right to question whether adding activities will make a difference. The truth is, it will, but only if the activities are designed with purpose. When Moodle is used mainly as a place to upload materials, learners often see it as passive and not very useful. That is likely why your trainees feel it has little value. Once you start adding interactive elements like forums with clear tasks, reflective journals, quizzes with feedback, or even simple peer collaboration activities, the platform begins to feel alive and relevant.

Your goal to add value is the right focus. Start small. Even one well designed activity that requires trainees to think, respond, and interact can completely shift their perception. You do not need to redesign everything at once.

You are also in a strong position because you understand your trainees’ needs from experience. That insight will guide you in creating activities that are meaningful rather than just technical additions.
