Konbanwa and hi-hi, all! πŸ˜€

It looks like, after getting a new Backpack account associated with my ECU email (rather than with my usual current Gmail email as it was before) and after getting past the entire stage of email verification finally for sure then, it was eventually possible for somebody here to connect this somebody's badges here with Backpack and to post the first of them to Backpack now too, I guess... 🧐:

After resolving that (hopefully) small(er) technical issue, the integration process was quite straightforward then, I'd say, - and it’s encouraging to see how seamlessly badges can be stored and displayed in an external space once everything is set up correctly. This adds an extra layer of visibility and portability to learners’ achievements, as we guess... πŸŽ“.

From a course design perspective, I find this especially valuable because it strengthens the motivational aspect of badges. When participants know their achievements can be shared beyond the course platform, it can increase engagement and give more meaning to completing activities and milestones. It also supports the idea of recognizing learning in a more open and flexible way, oh yeah!.. 🌐

Overall, this step feels like an important addition to creating a more connected and rewarding learning experience in Moodle. I’m looking forward to exploring how badges and perhaps the elements of gamification in general (e. g. digital trophies) can be used more strategically to support progression and recognition in our course design. Merci! πŸš€

"See" you all here and/or somewhere not too far from here already pretty soon from this highly enchanting moment hopefully for at least 1,000% and even more for sure once again then too and cheers! πŸ₯‚

Hi Olga,

In Moodle, your badges are not just images. They are baked with data. That means the information is embedded inside the badge itself. It includes who issued it, who earned it, what was required, and often a link to the evidence. So even if someone downloads the badge, that proof travels with it.

What makes your badges unique is that they are baked with your identity as the issuer and your course requirements. They carry your name, your Moodle site, and the learning process behind them. That is very different from a simple certificate or picture that anyone can copy.

When the badge is stored in the Open Badges Backpack, that baked data stays intact. It cannot be separated from the badge. This is what gives it credibility. Anyone who views it can trace it back to the source and see what the learner actually did.

And when learners share these on LinkedIn, they are not just posting an image. They are sharing verifiable proof that is baked into the badge itself. That makes it much stronger than a static credential.

So the real value is not just that badges exist. It is that they are baked with evidence, ownership, and meaning. That is what turns them into something trustworthy and worth sharing.

Saljut-saljut and hi-hi, Nellie! 🀠

Spasibo and merci bien for this clear and insightful explanation! It really helped me better understand the concept of badges being β€œbaked” with data. I find it especially valuable that the information about the issuer, criteria, and evidence is embedded directly within the badge, making it much more than just a visual representation 😎. (From this perspective, they are a bit similar to, for example, LinkedIn Learning certificates and, to this or that extent, to other more modern certificates of completion, achievement, attendance, participation, etc. as well, I'd say... 🌾) This definitely can't but influence how we see their role in a course πŸ”.

Your point about credibility stands out to somebody here for sure 🀠. Knowing that the badge carries verifiable information that cannot be separated from it highlights why this approach is so much stronger than traditional (old(er)) certificates and other similar credentials. It reinforces the idea that badges can genuinely reflect the learning process and achievements behind them, rather than simply indicating completion, for instance 🧾.

I also appreciate the connection you made to sharing badges on platforms like LinkedIn. It’s encouraging to think that learners are not just showcasing an image, but a validated record of their work and progress. This adds real value to their professional presence and makes the effort they put into the course more visible and meaningful, as we guess... 🌐

Overall, your explanation here helps us see badges as a powerful tool for recognition and motivation, grounded in transparency and trust. I’ll definitely take this perspective into account if and when planning to design and/or to use badges and/or some other similar kinds of (digital) rewards/credentials in my Moodle and/or any other future course, oh yeah!.. πŸ₯³

Obrigada and merci bien again for sharing such a helpful clarification here at this time as well! πŸš€

"See" you and the others somewhere not far from here already pretty soon from now hopefully again too and cheers! 🀩

Hi Olga,

Actually, you will be creating badges for your Moodle course on Online Courses for Free as soon as you complete the tasks required in week 1 so the future is quite near.Β

Hola-hola and hi-hi, Nellie! 🀠

Muchisimas gracias and merci beaucoup for this clarification now too! It’s really encouraging to know that badge creation is introduced so early in the course 😊. It makes the learning experience feel immediately practical and engaging, especially as we begin to apply new skills right after Week 1, yes-yes! 🎯

I’m looking forward to completing the related activities and exploring how badges can be used effectively within Moodle to support learner motivation and recognize achievement already quite soon from now then, yep 🌱.

It definitely makes the β€œfuture” feel very close and achievable from this "highly constructive" perspective, - that's for sure!.. πŸš€

"See" you and the others still in Week 1's activities first already very soon from now hopefully again as well and greetings! 🌷

Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Tons of fresh highly "creatively energizing + enlivening" Monday juicy cheers πŸŒ‹,
