Walkthrough of AI for ELT
This four-week, instructor-led professional development course is designed for educators to integrate artificial intelligence into English Language Teaching (ELT) course preparation and classroom activities.
Weekly Content Breakdown
Week 1: Introductions and Course Tour Participants watch the introductory presentation and explore the Moodle layout. Tasks include creating an AI-generated self-introduction video and recording a Moodle navigation tutorial. Objectives:
- Watch the Week 1 presentation.
- Create and post an AI self-introduction video.
- Record and post a Moodle navigation tutorial showing the left block, middle section, and right block using ScreenPal.
- Engage with peers in the discussion forums.
Week 2: Preparing an ELT Course with AI Participants focus on course design and lesson planning using various AI platforms. Tasks involve generating a course outline, writing a lesson activity, and creating two videos: an AI process walkthrough and a final result tutorial. Objectives:
- Create a course using AI tools.
- Present the course to students using Filmora 15.
- Write a lesson activity and present it.
- Record walkthrough videos using ScreenPal.
- Interact with peers regarding their courses and lesson activities.
Week 3: Creating ELT Activities with AI Participants design interactive learning tools, including quizzes, chatbots, and reflection agents, alongside generating a podcast activity. Showcase and walkthrough videos are posted for feedback. Objectives:
- Create a quiz.
- Build a chatbot roleplay.
- Generate a reflection activity by creating an AI agent.
- Create a podcast activity using NotebookLM and NoteGPT based on a Week 3 tutorial video.
- Experience and create a talking bot assistant using ElevenLabs.
- Record walkthrough videos using Colossyan.
- Engage with peers in the forums.
Week 4: Showcase and Reflection Participants compile their course components into a final presentation and complete a written reflection. Objectives:
- Showcase course work in a video using ScreenPal.
- Use an AI presenter on Colossyan to create a final presentation.
- Write and post a teacher-set reflection as a forum text entry.
- Review and discuss peer showcases and reflections.
